New Projects + Facebook
Its been a busy few days. I started and completed a second backpack. My oldest daughter decided that she just had to have one in pink. Luckily, since I knew what I was doing this time, I had no issues completing the project at all. I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Candy Print. Here's a photo of it all completed:
I also wanted to make me a hat. I had found this pattern for a Peek-a-Boo Flower Hat that I thought was cute. I made the hat and then decided at last minute before I started working on the flowers that I just didn't want to add the flowers to my hat. I liked the simple net-like form that it had without the flower. I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Lavender to complete the hat:
I have not yet blocked my shawl yet but that picture should hopefully be coming soon! I have one other major project in the works that I have been working on for a couple of months. Its slow going but I am hoping to finish it up within the coming months.
My favorite football team is the Mississippi State Bulldogs (Go Dawgs!) and I wanted to make a double crochet wave afghan like my grandmother used to make in the colors of MSU (maroon and white). I am using Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Burgundy and White to complete my afghan. Here's a picture of what I have done so far:
Other than completing the afghan, I am soon going to be adding a bit of sewing to my projects. I am looking forward to this new venture in the world of crafting.
Also, I am on Facebook with my own little page. So if you would like to, you can follow me on Facebook!

Success is Me
Its been a few days since I last wrote. I got busy deep into some projects that I have been working on. Turns out that the third time really is the charm. After one side-restart that failed, I completely unraveled the project and started fresh. I was able to easily finish the bag this time. Looks like rather than having sides miscounted, it was the bottom rows that I had wrong. So yay for me! Here's a picture of the final product:
Nat was excited about the bag. The straps are a bit long on her right now, but at least I know she'll get a lot of use out of it.
The other project that is nearing completion is my Celtic Knot shawl that I have previously mentioned. I mentioned taking a break from it and it seems that the break worked. When I went to finish the wings, they were easily finished. The only thing I have left to do is to block the wings and the shawl will be ready to wear. I am new to blocking so I am going to study various techniques before blocking the shawl.
For those who don't know what blocking is, it is basically stretching the yarn while its wet so that when its dry, it retains its wide shape. Here's a picture of the shawl before blocking (I will post a completed picture once blocking is complete):
I have started and completed another project in the meantime as well. I did a Twin Moon wall hanging in the color of lavender. It was a very neat pattern and only took me a few hours to complete in a couple of sittings. Here's a shot of it:
I'm not sure what to do next. I need to pick up some more white and burgundy yarn so that I can finish up my Mississippi State wave afghan. Its my first wave project so I'm excited to see how it goes. There are several projects that I want to add my to-do list but I need a few new hooks and some knitting needles to complete them.

Happy Fourth of July!!
Happy Fourth of July everyone! Hope you all had a great day and enjoyed some great family time and/or patriotic festivities. My family and I joined one of our "adopted" families for Fourth of July this year. I am stuffed, and that from the leftovers that we brought home. Due to the rain, we missed the big fireworks show but we'll survive I suppose. Probably go another weekend and get the kiddo's some fireworks we can shoot off. If nothing else, we'll get some sparklers as they don't make near as much noise. I was a bit shocked not to see more of our neighbors shooting fireworks off during the whole weekend. Normally by the Fourth, we are so tired of the fireworks going off for days in all directions, but we only heard some for about 30 minutes to an hour across the highway. C'est la vie!
I've got a couple of projects in the works at the moment. I work on the ones I feel like working on at that time. The first project that I am working on is a Celtic Knot Shawl. It is coming along nicely. Currently, I am working on starting on the wings. I'm having a wee bit of trouble with the wings so I am taking a little break to work on other projects for a few days to let my mind try and rest before I figure out the wings.
Tonight, I made my eldest daughter, Crysta, a tooth pocket to hold the money from the tooth fairy. Right at bedtime, she lost her first top tooth and I figured, since I had seen a pattern on Ravelry, that I would make the pocket. It turned out fairly well for me. Here's a shot of it.
Another simple project I am working on is a chapstick/lipstick holder. I'm almost done with it, but I am needing something to finish up attaching the button so that I can close it, and I need to get some latches so that it can be hung from my keys. I am working it up in the color of lavender. I am planning on using the same silver type button that I used for the bag that I crocheted.
Ran into a snag on Natalie's backpack again. It really sucks. Thinking about completely unraveling and starting at the beginning one more time. I hope this time I make it right. The comments on the pattern I am following says the bag is super easy. So I guess we shall see. Wish me luck!!

An oops on a bag
Last night was rough. I had been working several hours since Thursday afternoon working on a new backpack for my two year old, Nat. She is such a little spit fire, I chose to use a yarn in the colors or red, fuchsia, yellow, and orange. I was getting near to being down with the bag and starting on the straps when I noticed that my stitches were off by 1 each row. This, of course, leaving me with a bag that was not round, but straight up on one side while angling on the other. I was very upset at this fact. I spent over an hour unraveling the bag to the point where I knew I had the stitches right.
Today I have spend working on reconstructing the sides of the bag. I have a pattern I am following from Lion Brand Yarns. I am having to alter the pattern a bit due to the fact that the yarn it calls to use is much thicker than what I had on hand. This also means its taking much longer to stitch together, but I think the end result will be well worth it once I am finished. I can't wait to see little Nat's face once I have it finished. Well, back to work I go!
